have you ever been talking to someone and they accidentally spit on you? this has happened to me a few times. and i really never know what to do.
i usually ignore it so i don't embarrass them. i really just pretend like it never happened. if the spit lands on my face (yes, that has happened), i leave it there and wait for an opportune moment to wipe it away. it's sick. i know. but i really don't know what else to do. if i immediately wipe it away, they'll feel dumb. i suppose i shouldn't care if they feel dumb. but i feel bad...
anyway, this happened to me today. i was talking to an accountant asking them questions about doing my taxes and he said something and spit flew across the room and landed on the sleeve of my sweater. as per usual, i decided just to ignore it.
unfortunately, he didn't. he said "i just spit on you" and he leaned over and wiped it off my sleeve! is that as weird as i think it is?
please tell me what you do in a situation like that.
spit back????
ReplyDeletehaha, i always just make a joke about it, and laugh and wipe it off. thats so funny.
ReplyDeletei love this! i always ignore it too. but i've never been in the situation where they actually wipe it off me, haha.
ReplyDeletehahaha, that man is a gem! haha although i'm sure i'm usually the spitter, if someone did spit on me i'm sure i would laugh about it and then move on..
ReplyDeleteconsider it a rare and special occasion. embrace it.
hahaha brette - when i saw you needed advice i thought you were going to ask some life altering question. but no.
ReplyDeletejust make a joke out of it. unless it happens with every word then they just really cant help it. bust out the sanitizer or something...
Yup I too pretend it never happened. Then I start thinking, do I do that to people, my mind wanders to all kinds of senarios, completely miss what the person is saying. Focus, just try to focus
ReplyDeleteokay, so i've now creeped from your sister leslie's blog to your blog! i didn't know you had a blog! lol! this is hilarious...that he wiped the spit off, must have been a confident person! i usually just make a joke out of it too! but it depends on how well i know the person. :)
